Cramer Mountain Loop

Backpack - Cramer Mountain Loop

A moderate backpack trip with preference for new graduates of the Olympia Branch Backpacking course for the first week and then open to all members. The Assistant Leader slot is open for anyone needed a mentored trip. Our goal is to have fun, stick together and be safe. With any luck, we may see elk.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 14.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,210 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 -2.5 miles per hour

We will meet at 9:00 am near the gas station/mini mart on the north side of White Pass, where toilet facilities should be available.

Groceries and coffee are available in Packwood. Please plan extra time if you plan to stop for these.

Our trip goals are to be  safe, stick together and have fun. You will need leader permission because we need to know you can hike the distance and maintain the group pace.

We will camp at one of the lakes along the trail.

My style is to be inclusive of all members and to encourage getting to know your fellow Mountaineers. I tend to lead from the middle of the pack and encourage other members to lead the way at times. I have back country skied in this area many times in the past, but never hiked this trail. so it will be a bit of an exploratory trip for all of us.

We will have a Co-Leader so the Assistant Leader slot is available for anyone needing a Mentored trip to progress to  a  Leadership role.

Depending upon the group and trail conditions, we will either hike out and back or make a group decision to make a loop (which is my preference).
