This will be a fairly relaxed backpack, with time to enjoy the beauty of Mt. St. Helen’s. On Sunday, participants can choose to join us for an easy hike to Ape Caves, which is nearby, and a short (1.5 mile) out and back walk in the caves. There is $2 fee to visit the caves, payable on Recreation.gov.

hiking & Travel Considerations

Hiking in the fall can be beautiful when you are prepared for the conditions. Forecast is for dry weather; temperatures are expected to be highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s, but be prepared for conditions to change (colder, wetter). Wear bright colors in case there are hunters.
