This trip is targeted for any scramblers out there who haven't been scrambling in a while due to an injury (for me it's been a broken ankle) or a prolonged illness that has kept them from the sport we love. Any caretakers or friends who are willing to put up with a leisurely pace so that those of us who are rehabbing can prevent exacerbating our injuries or incurring any new ones. This particular trip is steep so do be prepared for that, but we want this to be FUN, not a death march, so don't let the steepness deter you from joining us! Note: I recommend trekking poles if you have them due to the steep slope.
We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00 a.m. The location is off exit 47 on I-90, then right from the freeway ramp, then right again at the T junction onto Tinkham Rd/FR55. At about 1.3 miles, turn left onto FR5510 and go for about 1.5 miles until you see a gated logging road on your left. Park here at this wide spot and put those boots on!
Required Equipment
- The Ten Essentials
- Mountaineering Boots
- Helmets and ice axes are NOT required for this particular scramble as there should be no snow up there by August.
