Backpack - Snowgrass Flat & Goat Lake Loop

Preference to Tacoma Introduction to Backpacking students. Trip will open to all Mountaineers to register on April 30.

Meet in Packwood at 8:30 am. 

Experience the beauty of Goat Rocks on this loop trail. Views of Mount Adams and Mount Saint Helens can be seen along the way. A wilderness permit per group is needed, which is self-issued at the trailhead. Plan to meet in Packwood in the morning before heading to the trailhead. Exact meeting time and location will be provided to registered participants.

We will be hiking counterclockwise, set up camp, filter water for dinner and breakfast then hike to the Goat Lake and chill. 

Day 2. E ore the area, perhaps walk a section of the PCT then come back to our campsite and enjoy the views.

The Ten Essentials plus overnight gear which may include:

  • Tent with footprint/ground tarp
  • Stove and fuel
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Water filter
  • Bear canister
  • Cooking pot/pan with plate and utensils
  • Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
