Your Gear Library Card will be valid for one year, starting on the date you join. It will allow you to rent unlimited gear throughout the year, pending availability, for your group outings. Joining this course is one of the first steps to becoming a Gear Library cardholder. Additionally, you need to:
- Complete our Gear Library orientation to learn about our rental processes and procedures.
- Become a Mountaineers member, if you are not already.
- Attend the relevant WTA or Mountaineers outdoor leadership training workshop(s).
- Create an account on our MyTurn reservation platform to sign our Cardholder Contract & Release of Liability.
Then you'll be all set to borrow quality gear for safe and fun adventures!
Note: It is a manual process for our staff to confirm that new members have completed this orientation and registered as a Gear Library cardholder through The Mountaineers website. Until this is done, you will have access to view our inventory via MyTurn, but you will not have access to reserve gear. Staff are typically able to confirm new Gear Library cardholders in MyTurn within 1-2 days. If you have questions, please contact gearlibrary@mountaineers.org.
