Youth Program

Explorers

For youth ages 10-13 who are interested in spending time outdoors.

Please read this program description in its entirety before registering.

Explorers is a year-round outdoor adventure program for youth ages 10-13 who want to learn new outdoor skills, and make lasting friendships with fellow adventurers. While there is a focus on developing climbing skills for those who are interested, the program and activities are driven entirely by the participants’ areas of interest. While parents are not required to attend outings, we do encourage parents to join  us! This is a great opportunity for you to get outside with your Explorer!

*Note that while  parents/guardians are expected to be active participants in the club, there is plenty of flexibility so that youth can participate in a trip even if a parent/guardian can't make it.

Explorers is a club and requires a time commitment and monthly dues of $70/family. In return, members gain a community of outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy spending time learning skills together. As families grow through our programs, lifelong friendships are built. When graduates of our teen program come home from college, they meet up with other Mountaineers friends to go hiking, backpacking and climbing. This program is just the beginning.

Note: Youth ages 10-13 (as of January 1, 2018) register as participants, and therefore pay the registration and monthly fees. Parents should become a Qualified Youth Leader and then register for the Pioneers program as an  Instructor (there is no fee for this).

Registration cost is $100 as listed above, then you will charged $70 each month there after through August.
