Seattle Explorers Trail Run - Squak Mountain: Bullitt Fireplace Access

We will have a fun day hiking/running the Bullitt Fireplace Trail in Issaquah

  • Easy/Moderate
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 4.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,100 ft

8:30AM: Meet in Parking Lot at the Mountainside Drive Trailhead  - From I-90 (Exit 17) in Issaquah, head south on Front Street through the picturesque old part of town. At the traffic light at Sunset Way, turn right. In 0.2 miles cross SE Newport Way, then bear left onto Mountain Park Blvd SW. This street changes direction abruptly several times. In about 0.7 miles bear left onto Mountainside Dr SW. In about 0.3 miles, where the street makes a very sharp turn to the left, pull into the small parking area on the right.  There is also parking along the side of the road. 

The Explorers will spend the morning running some trails.

Guests: If spots are still available one week prior to the trip, email Dave Mayer at dmayer25@hotmail.com to request that a friend or sibling be able to join.

  • Hike the 2 .2 miles to the Fireplace.  Run the 2.2 back down to the trailhead
  • Return to trail head by 12:00pm

Required Equipment

  • Bring Light Layers that you can remove as you get warm running
  • Open to all youth even if they’ve never done a trail run/much running - we will choose a couple of different pace groups 
  • Wear Sneakers, Running shoes or trail running shoes that are nice and sturdy 
  • You can use a small water backpack or a small backpack with a water bottle
  • Bring your own water/snacks
