This is a CHS-2 pacing hike. We are here to explore and test our pace, and what possibly works best for us. My hope when scheduling this hike, is to support the upcoming new CHS hikers and give you a space to become familiar with your pace and not feel that you are in a race. This hike should be a little fast, a little bit of fun 2, but overall, it should be fun.
This hike has winding trails, so we will most likely see trail runners or might even see horses as well. The winding trails can be narrow at times and there will be a few shallow stream crossings. With multi-use trails and a natural area, we will have plenty to explore in this quiet sanctuary outside of Issaquah.
Location: May Valley Loop trailhead, Issaquah WA.
Meeting Time: 7:30am Boots on the Trail: 8:00am
Directions: The park is located just south of Issaquah. Exit I-90 at Exit 15 and turning southbound on Issaquah-Renton Road, drive 4 miles, then turn left on the May Valley Road. Drive 2.5 miles to the Squak Mountain State Park parking lot (21500 May Valley Road) on the left.
Another alternative for those coming from Issaquah and east: Go south on Front Street through downtown Issaquah (changes to Issaquah-Hobart Road) for about five miles. Turn right (west) on to SE May Valley Road. The trailhead parking is on right after around 1.5 miles.
