CHS 1 Hike - Sauer's Mountain

CHS hike led at a CHS 1 pace (1.5-2.0 mph)

  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft

This is one of my favorite early season hikes because it has both wildflowers and views.  The trail is described as a "birding and botanizing paradise." It begins on private land where you'll enjoy fun art and quirky carvings on tree, before it climbs steeply and enters a national forest.

We'll grab a bite to eat after the hike either in Leavenworth  or on Hwy 97, depending on which route we take to the trailhead.

This trail starts  on private property and has very limited trailhead parking (~12 spaces), so we'll aim to be at the trailhead by 8:30-8:45 am. Exact meeting time and location TBD, but it's between 2 hrs 10 min and 2 hrs 40 min. to the trailhead from N. Seattle, so anticipate an early departure in the  6:00-6:15 range. The hike will be limited to 8 people/2 cars so please be comfortable carpooling with 3 other people.
