CHS 1 Hike - Dog Mountain Loop (Columbia River)

Springtime wildflower blooms and stunning views make Dog Mountain one of the most popular hiking areas in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area

  • Elevation Gain: 2,855 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2 mph or whatever is comfortable for the group

Meet at the trailhead ready to hike at 8 am.  Parking at the trailhead is limited and requires a parking permit ($2) and a NW Forest Pass or $5 fee.  Obtaining permits is competitive.  Get a login at resevations.gov and sign in to  https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10091444/ticket/10091445 at 7 am on Thursday 5/16 to get a permit.  Alternatively, there is a free shuttle.  Find info at https://www.ridecatbus.org/dog-mountain-shuttle/  The first one gets to the trailhead at 7:50.  We will wait if it is delayed.
