Review climbing skills for those who are either instructing Winter Mountaineering and Advanced Crevasse Rescue Course or just to refresh these skills

 6 pm  in the basement

Winter Mountaineering and Advanced Crevasse Rescue Course teach the following skills at in-town field trips:
- Decision Making in group rescue (Scene Size up, making a plan, and execution)
- Building & employing effective hauling and release systems
- Rope management: long roping, short roping, knots, passing knots, belays.
- Mechanical Advantages : 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1, 7:1, 8:1, 9:1 , counting advantages F its impact on hauling & weight acted on anchors.
- Rappelling down to check /administer first aid, set up rescue, and ascend back up to the lip.
- Releasable belay escape
- Equalizing anchors: slip knot, block & tackle
- Belay from above: (guide mode and direct belay) belay device, munter (regular & assisted brake)
- lowering on device & munter
- using handlines on steep snow

Future instructors and past course graduates are welcome to practice any of these skills in presence of the experienced instructor or climb leader. This helps us to be on the same page when instructing on the course field trips and also to brush up our skills.
