SIG snow field trip - Base camp will be at Deadhorse Creek: N 46 47'46.33'' W 121 44'10.64'' "Alpine start" will have us heading for Camp Muir on Sunday morning

Please organize your own carpools and we should plan to meet at Whittaker's Bunkhouse at 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 23rd and ready to hit the trail no later than 9:30 AM. The gate to the park opens at 9:00 AM so we will aim to be some of the first people in.

Here is a rough outline of the curriculum that will be covered during our weekend out:
  • Rope travel: knots, tying in, racking up, passing pickets, jumping crevasses
  • Rope management: kiwi coil vs. backpack coil, slack in the rope
  • Digging a snow kitchen
  • Crevasse rescue demo
  • Setting up a tent in the snow: deadman anchors, platforms, boot trenches, tips on keeping warm
  • Summit dancing
After you sign up, I will send a link to all the individual and group gear that will need to make it's way to the FT. Please enter your information on the GROUP GEAR tab and reference the INDIVIDUAL GEAR tab for what to pack for yourself. 
The weather will be chilly, so bring layers and if weather permits, we can make a trip up to Camp Muir in rope teams get you ample practice moving as a group in crampons. If weather isn't great, we can aim for Panorama Point as our 'summit'.
After, we will pack up camp and head back to cars with plenty of daylight to spare
