Climbing Course

Climbing Self Rescue II

Learn how to rescue an injured leader on a multipitch climb.

Completion of Self Rescue I is required for participation. If you took SR I this year, you have permission to register by default. If you took the course in a previous year, please reach out to the leader for permission to sign up.

What would happen if your climbing partner was seriously injured half-way up a multi-pitch climb and needed to be evacuated?  Are you prepared to carry out a rescue with the limited resources you typically carry on an alpine rock climb?

Self Rescue II is dedicated to rescue techniques, using only the equipment on your harness and the rope you are climbing on. Students will learn the skills necessary to rescue a fallen and incapacitated leader.
