Summer Camp Overnight

Youth activity: Summer Camp - Week 1 @ Rainier

Summer Camp Overnight - Irish Cabin Property

Another exciting overnight camping near Carbon River on Mt Rainier.

  • Easy

We will meet at the Squaxin park rose garden to load up the cars and caravan out! We will meet at 9 am and return on Friday at 3pm. More details will be communicated via email before the event.

Join us in Olympia for a 3-day camping adventure at our Mountaineers property near Mt. Rainier! We will be traveling to Mt Rainier and camping out under the summer sky near the Carbon River.  This camp is open to kids ages 10-15 and includes transportation, food, and skills lessons up on the mountain.

Campers arrive at the Rose Garden in Priest Point Park on Wednesday morning at 9am. We will play a few introduction games before we do a gear check, pack up the cars, and hit the road. On our way to camp, we will make a stop along the way to learn some history of the nearby mining town. Once at camp, we will work together to set up camp and will have some time for adventuring near the river before dinner. Our evening will be filled with campfire songs, stories, stargazing, and s'mores.

Thursday is all about hiking in Mt Rainier. We will head up to Mowich Lake where we will hike to the Tolmie Peak Fire lookout.  Be sure to bring swim gear to enjoy the time we will spend swimming and catching frogs and newts at the nearby Eunice Lake. After our long day, we will make a hearty dinner and enjoy another campfire-side evening.

Friday begins with a big breakfast and camp cleanup. After some time playing along the river, we will head to an old ghost town that was once a mining town along the Carbon River. After this exploration, we will hop back into the car and head back to Olympia. Pick up is at the Rose Garden at 3pm.
