Participants of this course will be introduced to a broad range of techniques and scenarios. Participants will be taught to lead single pitch trad routes, sport climbing techniques, footwork, moving fluidly through a route, building and cleaning anchors and how to be a more efficient trad climber.

Gear Required: Harness; helmet; belay device with locker; nut tool; climbing shoes (purchase comfortable and flat footed shoes you can wear all day); personal anchor with locker; 4 extra locking carabiners; belay gloves (if you use them)
Optional Gear: This gear is only recommended, but the course has gear it will lend it’s participants throughout the instruction and field trips. Do not buy this gear just for the course. Optional gear items are: trad rack (aka Cams) from .3 to 3.0 inches (single); set of nuts (offset recommended); 8-12 alpine draws (singles and doubles) or quickdraws; crack gloves (we will teach you to make them too); one roll of climbers tape; and triple sling for anchor and/or 20’ cordelette – 5 to 7 mm tech cord.
