This is a wonderful east side of the Cascades early season trip. In May the weather is usually better than the west side, and its warmer (but not too hot). We'll take the ferry boat up-lake to the Prince Creek trailhead, hike on hilly terrain above the lakeshore, and set up two "wild camps" along the way. Sunday morning we'll finish our hike at the tiny town of Stehekin. After a stop at the local bakery to celebrate our achievement, we'll take the down-lake ferry back to our start at Field's Point landing. Note hiking on the east side can involve ticks and rattle snakes to spice up our adventure, and we'll be learning about precautions to take to more safely travel in this drier environment.
There are costs involved with this trip. The leader will purchase Lady of the Lake round trip ferry tickets for all participants, and an $80 refund/person is due at the beginning of the trip. Participants are still responsible for this cost if they cancel after trip registration closes May 9 since the leader cant get a refund after this date. Field's Point Landing has a $7/night parking fee (so $14) which you pay at the office when you arrive. Bakery purchases are your own. And some participants may choose to stay overnight Thursday in Wenatchee or the Lake Chelan area before meeting the group Friday at 8:30am.
Meet Friday, May 17, at Field's Point Landing at 8:30am near the ticket office with your backpack ready to go. The Lady Express boat loads at 9am, and leaves the dock at 9:20am.
We'll return to Field's Point Landing Sunday, May 19, about 2pm, leaving plenty of time to get home.
