Meet at 6:00pm at Whatcom County Civic Building at 322 N. Commercial Street - Bellingham, WA. The training will be held in the Garden Room. Please allow sufficient time for parking. Parking will not be validated but plenty of free after-hours parking. Live session is up to 2 1/2 hours and dinner will not be provided, so please plan accordingly.

Please bring e-mail with Interactive Course quiz results to live session.

This seminar is available to general club membership within The Mountaineers and will not be open to non-members. Others wishing to take a similar seminar can consult the official STOP THE BLEED® course listing. If a member wishes to register but does not have the respective leader badge, please e-mail leader at BMPeacock@aol.com and I will manually add you to the roster or waitlist.

This is a repeat training due to the high demand, success and feedback of the first session in Oct-2023. However, there was also high churn on the roster which prevented many on the waitlist from being able to attend. Additionally, the facilitator is the EMS Training Specialist for Whatcom County and is not charging The Mountaineers or individual members for his time...please rkeep in mind that joining then cancelling will reflect poorly on our club and may inhibit our ability to schedule future sessions. As such, please consider the following questions:

1. Are you committed to attending a 2 1/2 hour evening training on a weekday in Bellingham, WA...given that it will be (almost) wintertime and during rush-hour traffic? If this sounds great now, but won't sound good come early Dec, please do not join this seminar.

2. Will you complete the 25 min Interactive Course *BEFORE* attending the live session, and bring your e-mail with quiz results to the live session?

The American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED® program has prepared over 2.6 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person.

In this STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.

This course has two parts:

  • 25-minute interactive course intended to be completed first. https://www.stopthebleed.org/training/online-course/

You will receive an e-mail with your quiz results to bring to the Skills-Only Course.

  • 2 1/2 hour live Skills-Only seminar: A formal presentation followed by hands-on practice of applying direct pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet to stop bleeding. Small group instructors will be available to check your movements as you practice three different bleeding control actions.
