Basic Manuevers Field Trip - Paradise
Instruction and practice in the field: Operation of backcountry equipment, safe travel, efficient skinning, kick turns, skinning on steep sidehills, route finding, construction of emergency shelters.

Meet at the Paradise Parking Lot, across from the Ranger Station at entrance to Paradise Inn parking. At the end of the day, we will have to leave paradise between 3;00 and 4:00 (based on the Longmire gate closing time). Be ready to go at 10:00AM.
Additional details will be provided prior to the field trip.
The gate to Paradise at Longmire opens at 9:00AM. Plan to be at Longmire before 9:00 - it takes about 30 minutes to drive to Paradise from the gate.
Sometimes the gate at Longmire does not open due to conditions. Alternate locations and contingency plans will be discussed prior to the field trip.

Required Equipment
All equipment needed for a typical one-day M1 trip, including avalanche gear and lunch. If you have ski / snowboard crampons, bring them. An example packing list will be provided during the course.
