Course Description
This course prepares students to travel safely on moderate to steep alpine ice.
Course Outcomes

- Strategize and adapt leading safely based on terrain
This course is designed for students who are already comfortable with multi-pitch traditional climbing. Instruction is focused on the aspects of multi-pitch alpine ice climbing that are new/different from rock climbing. Not enough time exists in the course to teach the fundamentals of multi-pitch lead climbing.
This course has no scheduled activities.
- Mountaineering boots
- 12 point crampons
- Ice tool, a matched pair is nice to have, but you can get by with a single tool
- 3 or 4 Ice screws (at least one 22 cm for making v-threads)
- 1 Cordelette
- 2 9/16" Tubular webbing slings- un-sewn.
- 4 Sewn Alpine Draws- 2 single, 2 double
