We will start by (or before) 8:00 AM on Saturday, July 27 at the campground in Leavenworth. (Directions and other specifics will be given at the pre-trip lecture on July 24.) We will be finished by late afternoon on Sunday, July 28. There will be an option to camp in Leavenworth on Friday night.

Objectives:     Practice skills discussed during the pre-trip lecture. Learn to place active and passive protection. Learn to build trad anchors.

Required Equipment

Gear each student MUST HAVE for Class - Pro Will be available for the class:

  1. Helmet, harness, rock shoes
  2. 1 personal anchoring device with a locking carabiner
  3. Auto blocking belay device with locking belay carabiner
  4. 4 Alpine slings 60cm 
  5. 2 Alpine slings 120cm
  6. 12 standard sized carabiners (2 for each sling)
  7. 3 locking carabiners in addition to the others already mentioned (standard sized)
  8. 20' Cordalette.  This can be made out of 20' of 7 mm nylon cord
  9. Nut tool and carabiner (does not need to be full size) and a knife
  10. Small water hydration pack with water pouch and enough room for food and warm layers
