Trip Report

Yellowjacket Tower/East Flank

We snatched a summit from the jaws of rain. Just as the last of our party of 6 topped out, the local weather changed from a warm, sunny fall day to pelting rain. As we rapped back to the packs, the rain got heavier and colder, the harbinger of winter. We noticed one of the near-by hills got a dusting of snow.

I remember when a pink 0.5 tricam was perfect for the eye-level pocket to protect the summit block. Apparently a red 1.0 was recently suggested. No matter how I placed the red tricam, it pulled easily. I would suggest trying a brown 1.5 and see if that works, otherwise the last move from the shelf becomes very spicy.
