The Copper Lake road is officially closed to wheeled vehicles for the rest of the winter. This adds 1.5 miles of road walking to get to the trailhead. Snowmobiles and XC skiers can use the road.
From the trailhead on the Copper Lake Road at elevation 2600, we went essentially straight west to the summit, approaching the summit along the NE ridge. The route was easy scrambling and snowshoeing the whole way through open forest. For the return trip, we first descended into the bowl. Snow conditions were perfect for plunge stepping and/or running downhill in our snowshoes. We had an absolute blast descending the first 1000 feet effortlessly.
