Trip Report

Winter Scramble - Mount Jupiter

Successful summit with favorable conditions (aside from some post holing).

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Gate is closed approximately 2.5 from TH and will be for the foreseeable future (per rangers). Encountered limited snow as low as 3800', intermittent snow at 4200', and consistent snow at 4500'.  One of the traverses just below the summit block is an absolute  no fall zone (see photo / faint steps in snow above cliff bands).

We had a hardy party of 7. GPS logged 18 miles RT w/ 5700' of gain. 10.5 hrs car to car.

Don't let the unassuming stature of this peak dissuade you. Aside from the logging operations down low- the scenery and setting are top notch. The trail along the ridge is in excellent shape. Trail runners might really enjoy this objective in later season. The summit block affords it's visitors a front row seat of the Brothers and the views of Constance are lovely too.

Thanks to Dave Morgan for the great TRs & Beta from previous outings.
