Trip Report

Winter Scramble - Mount Ellinor

Bottom to top from Big Creek, 13mi, 5000ft

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Long day from the rainforest to the Alpine snow. Winter route is intact. Creek is melting out at the bottom of the chute - 2 holes near the bottom and 2big meltouts below it. We could hear water running below, climbers left on the way up. Snow was firm in the morning, mush in the afternoon. Main glissade chute upper half had high icy elbow banger walls and would have been hard to arrest. Unless we get another dump, the season may end early here... All in all, a great challenging day outdoors.

See above. Great group of all ladies, from early 30s to mid-60s from 4 branches. We met another Ms group, OSAT, Instagram models and dog celebrity, busy day on Mt. Ellior.
