Winter Scramble - Mildred Point

Excellent choice for a windy day as this route is almost entirely in forested terrain except for the final few hundred feet. Excellent view at the end.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

We had originally planned to climb Norse Peak, but a forecast of subzero temperatures and 40 mph winds forced us to look for a more protected alternative. Mildred Point was a perfect choice. Almost the entire route is in an open forest offering protection from the wind. The first mile or so, along the Wonderland Trail was packed down, but after that we had to break trail through about a foot or more of fresh snow. The trail was easy to follow and the gentle, gradual ridge run made for an easy day.
