Trip Report

The Tooth/South Face

May 30, 2015. Leaders arrived at 6:20 with basic students arriving about 10 minutes later. There were 4 cars at alpental with two climbers heading up when we arrived. The weather was warm and sunny. We left Alpental at around 6:50 and reached the base of the climb at around 10:00 just behind the two climbers we saw in the parking lot. When we arrived, the Washington Alpine Club had set up a hand line from the second belay to the fourth. They also had people stationed at several belay/rappel stations for some sort of training. This forced us off the standard 5.6 route in several places. We all reached the summit by 1:30 and returned to the parking lot at 4:45. There was snow in places, but it would be easily avoidable if an ice axe was not handy.
