Trip Report

Practical intro to Rock Gardening - Freshwater Bay

Perfect conditions for an Intro to Rock Gardening Class

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Launched out of Freshwater Bay, I think it was the opening to Salmon Season as parking was a challenge when we got there, but we did find parking. Some of us parked tandem, one behind the other to take up less space and leave there spaces open for others to use. As we geared up more and more fisher men where coming off the water and leaving which meant more parking was becoming available.

The trip went well with perfect conditions for and introduction to Rock Gardening. Swell less then a foot at around 7 seconds light wind in the am with a prediction to pick up in the afternoon out of the SW to 15 mph. The Strait of Juan Defuca running north west to south east is pretty well protected from a SW wind and we had no issues with the wind in the afternoon.

All in all a great trip and a good learning experience for all those that signed up and participated.
