Packrafting - Middle Fork Snoqualmie River

Bridge View to Mine Creek Campground, 11 river miles, at 2700-2800 CFS. Moving speed 4 mph. Hot and sunny day, 90 degrees. A great place to be on a hot day.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • At first we attempted to put in at Middle Fork Trailhead only to find that it is not suitable due to a steep and foliage choked riverbank at the trail bridge. We drove back 1/4 mile to Bridge View which was a clean and easy launch point.
The float down to Riverbend has fairly consistent class II action. From Riverbend to Concrete Bridge is mostly tame. Below Concrete Bridge there are two class III- ramps before Island Drop. At this water level it looked hard to eddy out at the bottom of Island Drop so we exited above it.
This is a very scenic stretch with varied mountainscapes and fun bird watching: eagles, mergansers, dippers and swallows.
Seems like it could be run up to 3500 CFS without significant penalty points.
