Mount Daniel

Perfect weekend for a snow scramble up Mount Daniel

  • The ford on the way to the TH was easily passable with my Forester in the morning on the way in.  In later afternoon was a bit dicey  on the way out. Would not have wanted to be in anything with less clearance. 

     

Lovely weekend to be scrambling Mount Daniel. Peggy's Pond is mostly still frozen over but found a stream with running water near camp.  Snow was perfect for crampons in the morning. A bit icy on the traverse around the East Peak on the way to the summit.  By the afternoon we were able to take off the crampons and plunge step down from col on the near side of the East Peak and down the ridge to camp.  As noted earlier the creek was running high on the way out.  High clearance car required at this time.
