Intermediate Snowshoe - Nordic Pass

From the Silver Fir lift lot, we were able to easily access the marked blue diamond route.  Sometimes we saw them, other times we followed the best path.  No previous snowshoe tracks today, made for some fun with trail breaking, through some amazing nice powder conditions.  Beyond the nordic ski trails and the powerlines, the route became clearer, mostly!  Had a pleasant if snowy lunch at Nordic Pass.  If someone interested in an attempt on Mt Catherine, now would be the time to follow our tracks as far as the Pass.  Heading down, we initially followed our path back.  But diverged above Frog Lake, heading up to the saddle north of Olallie Peak, then contoured generally the county line, climbing what we dubbed "Frog Knob", but taking a compass bearing and working our way back to Hyak Lake.  This whole area is ripe for exploration, as we essentially saw no one above Hyak Lake.  Great group really worked well together on navigation, trail breaking, and group decision making.  Thanks for a fun day!
