FS 4330 was in typical rough shape, but snowfree to trailhead. Scatter creek crossing was about ~1 ft deep. Subaru outback or higher clearance recommended.
Day 1 hike in to Peggy's Pond was straightforward. Snow line just above squaw lake. Peggy's pond area mostly snowed in, but bare ground could be found. Running water easily available.
Day 2 Left camp at 500am, traversed north on good snow at ~6100ft to snowed-in pea soup lake. Lynch Glacier ascent was direct with only 1 small crevasse to step over. Our group of 9 traveled at a reasonable pace with several breaks; we were on the summit 5 hrs from camp.
We descended scramble route. the traverse beneath east peak was on steep hard snow interspersed with loose scree. Afterward, I considered whether scrambling up and over east peak would be a more enjoyable way to bypass this unpleasant section. From there, the descent down hyas basin was quick, with many opportunities for glissading.
