A good bootpath exists all of the way to the summit. Snow bridges are quite solid and should last for several more weeks. There were a number of wands marking significant features and route changes.
Departed camp 2:45am and first team was on the summit by 7:30am.
Start Location: Schreiber’s Meadow
End Location: Schreiber’s Meadow
Elevation Gain: 7411ft
General Activity Notes:
This trip was moved from Mt Adams/Mazama Glacier because the east-side routes on Mt Adams are all closed due to fire remediation work.
Met at Sedro-Wooley Ranger Station at 8:30am, then caravanned to the trailhead.
Approach conditions:
Trail was snow-free up to Sandy Camp.
We actually camped at the toe of the Easton Glacier @ 6800ft, in a rock formation on the edge of the Deming Glacier. Good tent and bivy sites. Water pool available in a small saddle.
Permits required?
NW Forest Pass.
Driving / parking notes:
Lots of people at the parking lot Saturday morning. Note: it was Washington Trails Day and WTA had a station at the trailhead advocating trails. We were able to find parking in the general vicinity of the trailhead.
Equipment notes:
Carried and used helmets, crampons, 30m glacier ropes, glacier rescue gear. Carried but did not use pickets, ice screws (2).
Required Skills:
Snow and glacier climbing skills.
Weather Notes:
Mostly sunny. Almost no wind on the summit.
