Glacier Climb - Mount Baker/Coleman Glacier

Three intermediate students led 9 basic climbing students.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Road has some potholes, but by WA standards is fine.  Trailhead was VERY crowded.

    Route was in good shape reflective of the good snow year. Snow began just before the Hogsback camp, which is where the team stopped for crampons and transition to/from ropes.

     

Approach to Black Buttes camp ~4.5 hours.
Alpine start ~ 1:30 AM
4.5 hours to broad summit platform
~45 mins at summit, including walk over to true summit, photos, etc
~3.5 hours back to camp.
~1.5 hours for rest and to break down camp
~2.25 hours back to the trailhead
