route in great shape for hiking, but would currently not be fun on skis.
started hiking from the cars 2:30am by headlamp.  my plan was walk at a moderate pace and to reach the summit by 11:00am, so we could descend before the route was trashed by the sun.  we accomplished that goal and were descending before 11:00am.  took a quick side trip to east peak of colfax(steep, but goldilocks snow). unfortunately some temporary fog descended on us and gave us just 50' visibility.  the fog lifted as soon as we returned to the saddle between baker and colfax :<(  we descended at a very moderate pace.  returned to the cars by 5:00pm.
everyone was all smiles! great group!  fun to do as a day trip :>)

last water running water we found was at the foot of the glacier (~5850').

equipment: ice axe, crampons, 30m rope, 37m rope, harness, helmet
