Day Hike - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

Great day on Tiger Mountain - sunny at the trailhead, snowing on the summits of West Tiger 2 & 3. Starting hitting snow on the trail at around 1200 ft.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • A few inches of fresh snow starting at 1200 feet. Microspikes were used by all on the way down.

Our group of 10 set off at 9am with blue sky above. We headed up the Lingering Trail and started encountering snow around 1200 feet. The snow was fresh and only a few inches deep, so everyone felt comfortable continuing up without microspikes.

As we approached West Tiger 2, it began to snow. After a quick summit treat, it was on to West Tiger 3 for lunch. We all decided to put on microspikes for the descent via the W Tiger 3,  RR Grade, K-3, and High Point trails. There was one tricky creek crossing that required maneuvering over logs, but we used caution and had no issues.
Overall, the trails down low were a little muddy but not bad considering the amount of rain we’ve been getting. By the time we got to the cars, the sun was shining again! A fun day in the mountains with a great group of hikers.
