Trip Report

Day Hike - Tubal Cain Mine

The trail is in beautiful shape. We went to the mine first - as you arrive at the mine site you will come to two campsites - the right fork goes on up to the lake and the left fork allows you to cross over a small creek and follow the unmarked trail to the mine. There is a small path that runs alongside the scree hill, making it very passable. After the mine visit we headed back down to the Tull Canyon trail head. There you will go up a pretty steep (.6 miles) section. As the trail levels off you will see the wreckage sight on your left. This was a great hot weather hike as much of the trail is shaded.

  • Road rough but passable
  • Directions are a bit wonky on WTA and due to road number changes.  As you go, be sure to stay left on 2870.  This will take you all the way to the trailhead on a sometimes very narrow trail.  Road is generally in great shape with a couple of short areas with very deep potholes (navigable but be aware of them).

The trailhead was packed when we arrived (albeit late) but the trail is in wonderful shape.  Perfect hot weather hike.
