Day Hike - Rattlesnake Ledge
We hiked up the trail to Rattlesnake ledge, where we enjoyed the views then traveled back to the trailhead and walked the mostly level trail around the east side of the lake to the Cedar River Watershed Education Center and enjoyed the rain drums while eating lunch. We learned about the historic town called Moncton, build in 1906 and flooded in 1915.

Started off on a cloudy December day, but had partial views up at the ledge. After we came down we walked around the lake to the Cedar River Watershed Education Center narrowly missing two trees falling over the trail in the high winds, but made it safely and had lunch listening to the water drums. Inside the Center, we were treated to a presentation of the historic "ghost" town of Moncton which was flooded in 1915 when the dam was built. We also got to hear about the Watershed and see maps of the enclosure. All in all a nice hike and educational excursion.
