Day Hike - Rampart Ridge Loop (Mount Rainier)

This loop begins with the Wonderland Trail out of Longmire, then coming back on the Rampart Ridge Trail which eventually breaks out of the forest revealing a breathtaking view of Mount Rainier. On the return we’ll take the Trail of the Shadows interpretive trail that makes a .7 mile loop around a wetland, hot springs and replica of James Longmire’s cabin, for a 5.2 mile hike in total.

  • Trail very good.  

Beautiful weather, great views of the mountain.  5.2 miles and 1300 ft elev gain. We took about 4 hours including lunch at a great overlook (see top photo).  Everyone in our group of 9 seemed to have a great time.
