Day Hike - Rampart Lakes

A beautiful summers day to hike to some beautiful lakes. The waterfalls are beautiful too.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The first part of the trail is fairly easy. But then it is a long haul on a steep, rooty, and rocky trail. There is a huge blowdown a little after you gain the Rampart Lakes trail. There is a well used footpath around it. There is some snow still on the trail, but traction isn't needed on a warm day.

The day was fine and everyone was  ready to hike.  We got to the  trailhead at 8 am and the parking lot was filling up. The trail is tough going once you start to gain elevation. But there are many beutiful waterfalls along the way. After lunch at one of the lakes, we explored a bit and  enjoyed the views.

We were early for  flowers. There were Arnica , Asters and Bluebells on the first part of the trail. Then just a few Marsh marigolds above.  I was hoping for fewer crowds as the trail isn't yet completely snow free. There were quite a few people, but not too many to enjoy the tip. Bonus: very few bugs.
