Day Hike - Radio Tower Loop

Close by weekend only, logging road conditioner.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • We had an early start to beat predicted rain and thundershowers. We encountered some drizzle, saw a few wildflowers and some deer and birds. Quary shut down for weekend, no active logging noted. As good stewards we picked up trash  along the way.

If you need  a good conditioner with a nice warm up this is it.  One of our group got a glimpse of Mt. Rainer and we could all see Kennedy creek/sound. No views of the Olympics, clouds were too low.

We parked at Little Creek casino and carpooled to "trail head". Take the road parallel to 101 . Park at first locked gate on the south side, leave clear path for vehicles. This is directly across from Taylor Station resturant. Parking for 1-3 cars.

Start hiking at the second (north) locked gate and follow road past quary until you come to another locked gate by the power lines. This is the start of the loop. We went clockwise and first possible views of the sound and Mt. Rainier and Kennedy creek area are from this side. Once over the high point of the hike, on a clear day you get views of the Olympic mountains in the distance to the North.

Good early season hike, close in, right off 101 and we encountered no one else on this trail.
