Day Hike - Poo Poo Point

The weather was very cooperative and the view from the top was really amazing. It was a great half day day hike

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • It is a paved road to the trail head so even low clearance vehicles can make it. There were slippery rocks and roots; also there was some muddy spots on the trail too but there wasn't any puddles to avoid. The weather was cold, cloudy and sunny. Also you can see that some of the leaves are changing colors. There are a lot of switchbacks and uphill.

We met at the Tibbets Valley Park and Ride at 7:40 am in order to be able to get parking at the trail head since it's a small parking lot. Our group had 6 people all together for the hike. When we got to the trail head there was a good number of cars there but we were able to find two spots. No pass or permit is required at the Poo Poo Point Trail head. When we started the hike at 8:19 am it was still cloudy but the sun did eventually come out. Since it rained the day before, the trail did have some muddy spots, slippery rocks and roots so we took our time coming back down the trail and it was easy going up the trail. We took breaks every 30 minutes or so to get a drink of water and rest. We got to the top (which was cold and windy) at around 10:15 am and left a little after 10:30 am.  We got back to the cars at 11:30 am and by that time a lot of people were waiting for a spot to open up in the parking lot.  There were a lot more people going up than down since it was close to noon. Everybody in the group got back to the cars safely.
