Day Hike - Mount Washington (Snoqualmie)

Winter wonderland! Perfect conditions on a sunny day.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail is covered with snow starting about 2 miles up. However, the snow was nicely packed and we did not need microspikes for this portion. We used microspikes slightly lower, where the rocks were covered with chunks of icy snow. Stream crossings were easy, and the trail is easy to follow.

There were only a handful of other cars in the parking lot when our group met at 8am, although the lot was busier by our 2pm return. Beautiful hike up in perfect conditions, and the snow on the upper half made it more pleasant to walk. Basked in the sunshine on the south-facing ridge near the summit, with excellent views of Rainier (and less excellent, quite aggressive gray jays). A beautiful day out with a fantastic group!
