Day Hike - Millersylvania State Park

This unexpected nice local hike was welcome after a slippery attempt at driving this morning to the Dirty Harry's Balcony trailhead from Olympia!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The park is only 12 miles south of Olympia and has an extensive network of trails that offer a variety of mileage options. Not much uphill, but we did pile up a whopping 533' gain and over 8 miles by exploring different sections! There are a few mud holes that are easy to get around, otherwise they are well maintained and traveled paths. Saw only one other hiker our entire four hours out.

    It's a pleasant, peaceful area that's worth a visit or two or more. There is also a campground with shower facilities and a lake beach for swimming. It has abundant green growth, and seasonal flowers, berries, birds, and other wild critters besides people. I'll visit Dirty Harry another time!
