Day Hike - Lost Valley Loop

Eight mile day hike for Tacoma CHS course.

  • Road rough but passable

  • There is currently an active logging operation on the road to the trailhead which has made the road  rougher than average.  The trails are in great condition and there has been very recent work to cut brush back from the trail along the Lost Valley trail.

A group of seven people from the Tacoma CHS course successfully completed the Lost Valley loop.  We arrived at the trailhead at 8:30 and there was plenty of parking.  The weather was partly cloudy which kept the temperatures comfortably in the 60's.  Lost_Valley_3.JPGWe hiked from 9:00 to 1:00 and encountered 9-10 other groups - mostly mountain bikers but also trail runners and other hikers.  Everyone on the trail was very pleasant and polite.  The trail conditions were excellent which allowed the group to work on hiking at a faster pace.
