Had the trail all alone on a stormy Sunday. Above the Ranger Peak over look and below the Palisades trail connector, the trail bed has been affected by the fire damage and runoff. However, I had no problems traveling the entire trail from 410 to the Dalles Ridge Trail.

Parking is off the side of Hwy 410- just across from Skookum Flats campground road. The trail is unmarked from the road. The lower trail is well protected in woods. Above Ranger Peak, it opens up to the weather more, but still protected by Mt. Rainier. During that section of the trail, the trail bed is degraded from fire and water runoff, but easily travels.
I ascended to the Dalles Ridge in 3 hours, descended in two hours.
