Trip Report

Day Hike - Little Mountain Park

Hiked to views of Skagit Valley.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trails were in great condition and very well marked. There were some downed trees on a couple of the trails though it was easy to maneuver around them.

We started our hike around 8:30 AM at the Southeastern parking lot. We were able to find spaces without much difficulty since our group was spread across only two cars. No permits were required.

Our hike route took us around the park with a midpoint at the top where we had views of Skagit Valley. We also stopped at a second viewpoint which had views of Mount Vernon (pictured). The views were a lot better than expected since we got relatively clear skies rather than rain.

The hike did end up being 1 mile longer and 500 ft less elevation gain than expected. This was surprising since the original hike stats were based on trail stats (mileage/elevation gain) provided by the park. Getting accurate route info is difficult since mapping software doesn't have all the trails in the park so be sure to use the map provided by the park. Despite the extra distance, the hike was nice and fun.
