Day Hike - Cowan & Ravenna Parks

A quiet early evening on well maintained trails with four bridge crossings, including one on the Historic Register. The ravine is magic, tucked in a busy, growing city -- a grand display of native plants and second growth trees, some at eye level on the high bridge.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trails in good shape, only the tiny bit at the top of the north rim to catch all 3 bridges (a departure from the trail guide) required careful footing.

We five are now old friends having done many of the Seattle Stairways walks together.  And we enjoyed the usual chatty amble through two city parks joined by Ravenna Creek. We particularly enjoyed the ontology sculpture cluster in Cowen Park showing tadpole to frog transformation in bronze.  The promised rain never found us and we completed the walk without headlamps, our first since staring these 6 to 8pm walks in January.  Without rushing, we were done in 1.5 hours.
