Day Hike - Cowen & Ravenna Parks

This after work urban adventure walks us through Ravenna and Cowan Parks back and forth across the daylighted Ravenna Creek, the link between Green Lake and Lake Washington.

  • Easy
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 3.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 363 ft

We'll meet at the southeast corner of Ravenna Pk and NE 55th St shortly before 6pm with an anticipated 8pm finish.

Early evening hikes in the city call for headlamps and urban variations on the 10 essentials.  No cotton, please, but reflective items add to our safety crossing city streets. Sunset is 7:34 pm, civil twilight a half hour later. Smaller umbrellas are OK, too.

Participants familiar with Seattle's history, architecture, urban horticulture or other insights to our route are welcome to help with the narration.  Pace will adjust to hikers' comfort and fitness level -- this is not a marathon but a reasonable level of fitness is assumed for about 3.5 miles with at least 264 steps up and 118 steps down.

The Olmstead Vision hike is the 9th of 25 planned hikes from Seattle Stairways Walks. One of the bridges is on the National Register of Historic Places. Check out the Seattle Stairways blog here: http://www.seattlestairwaywalks.com/.
