  • Bandera Mountain
  • Day Hiking
  • Successful
  • Road rough but passable
  • Route in good condition.  No issues.   As always, the upper section of the trail has some scrambly sections that require use of hands.

Seattle branch midweek after-hours conditioner.  Good weather all evening - pleasant temperatures, good visibility, no precip, a few bugs but not bad. There was no wind whatsoever - a bit would have been nice to help cool us off. On arriving at the summit we were in the clouds for a few minutes, then above the clouds, then the clouds cleared. A pair of Gray Jays showed up and kindly let us know that if we were to feed them they would be OK with it. Nice views of Garfield Mountain and other peaks along the Middle Fork, and of the many peaks along the Cascade Crest north of I-90.

The descent of the upper mountain was in full evening light, with backlight flowers lining the trail in some places. We arrived back at the TH with just enough remaining light that we did not need to use our headlamps.
