CHS 2 Hike - Teanaway Butte

Beautiful wildflowers and 360 degree views on this hike.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

Road to the TH is in good condition. We parked at the Indian Creek Equestrian campground, which is shiny and new. Only one other car there. There is plenty of parking and there are two clean privys, although they are not very close to the parking area. Trail (FS road 230) heads north out of the camp, near where we parked. We hiked along the FS road, stopping often to take photos of the flowers and examine animal prints. Because this hike travels through a burn area, there are nice views along the way. The last half mile trail to the former lookout site was steep but short. There were several blowdowns but all easy to navigate. On the way down, we took a short spur to an unnamed summit just - not much to see but the trail was good. Got back to the cars just as the rain started. Saw only about five other hikers the whole day.
